VidCon, a convention that connects digital creators and fans, took Anaheim, California, by storm June 21-24. VidCon is “where digital culture takes center stage as the world’s leading digital creators, platform innovators, and their fans converge in one place,” according to VidCon’s website.

This year’s creator lineup featured more than 250 social media sensations, including Keith Lee, Dream and ZHC. Even Duolingo took the stage! Attendees could choose from one of three ticket options: Community Track, Creator Track, or Industry Track. Each track uniquely shapes the VidCon experience, from offering panels and Q&As, to meet-and-greets and performances.

Thousands of people attended the convention to share their knowledge and passion for content creation.

Content creation wasn’t always celebrated. In the past, the notion of pursuing content creation as a profession seemed improbable. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube were once viewed as "cringy," a mere waste of time, or unprofessional. Yet, today, they have become indispensable tools for any business’ success. The pervasive influence and rapid advancement of social media has revolutionized the ways businesses operate, compelling them to adapt and harness the power of digital marketing to connect with their target audiences. Now, millions of young adults are seizing opportunities presented by the digital realm, influencing business’ outreach in a way that surpasses anything we have seen before.

The true beauty of VidCon lies in the blend of diverse creators who gather to exchange their artistic expressions, experiences, and profound insights acquired throughout their individual journeys. People were truly making an effort to show their appreciation for each other's talents and lend a hand whenever needed. This fostered a friendly atmosphere brimming with kindness, sincerity, and a genuine desire to support one another. The very essence of creators’ purposes shined through, illuminating the true beauty in their craft — it is this drive that propels the best to become even better.

As a journalist attending VidCon, I was intrigued and eager to connect. I found myself pondering a single, pivotal question for each creator present at VidCon:

“What impact do you hope to have with the content you create?”

“I would love to impact the youth by keeping them from going astray,” Ali says. “I am completely against smoking and drinking. So I always try to do fun activities with the youngsters and keep them distracted and away from the negative impact.”

“I would love to inspire people to love themselves, to show them that you will find the one who will love you for who you are,” Maabreh says. “If you are nice and caring to people, you will attract the same energy you put in. I hope I can impact the next generation to love themselves.”

“I hope to inspire and show the process of coming from nothing on YouTube and showing that anyone can do it. I want to represent the hardworking creator that is willing to do anything to succeed. I hope for my impact to be motivating to all walks of life striving for living a dream life.”

As you can see, a distinct and unifying theme emerges — an unwavering commitment to inspire and make a positive impact on their communities through relentless hard work and dedication. These creators continuously strive to redefine the boundaries of business, marketing and content

creation to shape the future. As our digital landscape expands, it brings forth a boundless realm of creativity, passion and opportunities. No matter your profession, you hold the potential to leave a lasting impact on the world.
